Issue Position

Even though LD1 is further from the border than metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson, illegal immigrants still pass through our community. Securing our Southern border is imperative to stopping the flow of illegal immigrants coming into our State. While I don't believe that a pathway to citizenship or providing direct benefits is a path we should pursue, I believe that we can, after our border is secure, work to provide an avenue where they can begin to work in a legal manner with proper documentation under certain conditions. Knowing who these people are and where they are is vital to our National Security. Bringing them out of the shadows and allowing them to contribute to our economic growth and tax base is a more realistic solution to the problem.
